🎯 Selection System

Understanding the Two Selection Types

💡 Key Concept

Border = Reorder | Checkbox = Split

Border Selection (Blue Border)

  • How: Click on the thumbnail image itself
  • Purpose: Select pages for reordering
  • Visual: Blue border appears around thumbnail
  • Multi-select: Hold Ctrl and click to select multiple pages
  • Action: Drag bordered pages to reorder them

Checkbox Selection

  • How: Click the checkbox in the top-right corner
  • Purpose: Mark pages for splitting/extraction
  • Visual: Checkbox becomes checked (✓)
  • Multi-select: Click multiple checkboxes
  • Action: Use "Split Selected Pages" to extract checked pages

📋 Common Workflows

Workflow 1: Extract Specific Pages

  1. Load your PDF file

⚙️ Features

Helper Buttons

  • Check All: Checks all page checkboxes (for splitting)
  • Clear Selection: Removes borders and unchecks all boxes

Multi-Page Operations

Select multiple pages at once:

  • Hold Ctrl and click to add pages to border selection
  • Drag all bordered pages together as a group
  • Check multiple boxes to extract several pages

💡 Tips & Best Practices

Efficient Selection

  • Use "Select All" then deselect unwanted pages with Ctrl+Click

  • "Clear Selection" resets everything quickly

⚠️ Remember

Border selection and checkbox selection are independent. You can have pages both bordered AND checked - just make sure you use the right action button!

🔧 Troubleshooting

Q: Pages won't reorder when I drag them

A: Make sure the pages have blue borders (click thumbnail, not checkbox). Only bordered pages can be dragged.

Q: "Split Selected Pages" creates an empty PDF

A: You need to CHECK the boxes (✓) on pages to split them. Border selection doesn't work for splitting.

Q: I can't select multiple pages

A: Hold Ctrl while clicking thumbnails for border selection. For checkboxes, just click each one.
